the hub: security update

PRESS RELEASE

  • 8th September 2020

Patient Safety Learning has been subject to multiple targeted cyber-attacks of the hub database, hosted by Amazon Web Services (AWS).

We have reported to regulatory bodies and, as this is a criminal matter, to the police. It has been passed to the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau for investigation.

Helen Hughes, Chief Executive of Patient Safety Learning said:

"We are shocked that hackers targeted our learning platform for patient safety, the hub. They hacked into the admin console for our AWS account and also the live hub database hosted there. We were able to successfully recover it and it is fully and securely operational. We have been able to assure hub members that there has been no loss or breach of any personal data.
We are resolute in our commitment to improve patient safety through our work and the hub. We will do everything we can to ensure that the hub and its information is secure and that we can continue to #share4safety."

If anyone has any information as to who would want to do this to us and who is behind these attacks, please contact the Police using crime reference number NFRC200903878996, or contact Helen, Chief Executive, at [email protected].
